Lennon wants more from Saints squad St Mirren manager Danny Lennon is looking for his players to show better concentration levels and greater courage on the ball as they begin 2011 with the visit of Kilmarnock. Saints have shown gradual improvement in recent weeks and Lennon's options could be boosted further for the game by the return of Lee Mair and Hugh Murray from injury. But Lennon is always seeking more as he looks back on the first half of his debut campaign in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. The former Cowdenbeath manager, who brought four players from Central Park with him to Paisley amid a significant summer turnover in the squad, is looking for his side to ensure sloppy goals do not cost them this year. "The job has been everything I thought and more," he said. "Initially when you come in it's very, very exciting and you look forward to each game, and that's still the case. "But you quickly get back down to how challenging it is. It's a very, very difficult job. It's one that I relish. I'm still bright as a button in the morning coming into the place. My enthusiasm is a big driving point for us here. "There is a lot of good quality within the SPL and when you compare it to where I've come from, Cowdenbeath, mistakes you make, giving free-kicks away, there is that bit of quality that hurts you at this level. "Concentration levels have got to be to the highest standard for clubs like ourselves. "If you look back at the stats on the amount of games we have lost by the odd goal and the manner we have lost them, the concentration factor has basically been our Achilles heel. "But that's something we will strive to work on." Meanwhile, Kilmarnock can consolidate a top-six place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League with victory, but midfielder James Fowler revealed the fear of relegation remains one of their main motivating tools. Kilmarnock have taken 20 points from a possible 27 to boost their prospects of sealing their first top-six finish since 2007. However, memories of last season's tense relegation decider remain fresh at Rugby Park. Killie only survived on the final day when a goalless draw with Falkirk kept them two points ahead of the Bairns. Kilmarnock's style and confidence have been transformed after manager Mixu Paatelainen arrived in the summer but much of their determination comes from the players' eagerness to avoid a similar battle. Fowler said: "The last couple of seasons we have had at Kilmarnock, the main thing we want to be is be in this league. "Until we are mathematically safe, then that's what our aim is. After that we can maybe look towards the top six. "But we don't want a repeat of the relegation fight that we had last year. We want to keep up the good form and be in the SPL next year. "I think the drive has also been the gaffer coming in and the players he has added to the squad as well. "It's been a combination of things but there are a lot of boys still here from last year who have improved under the manager. "They have still got that in their memory and they don't want to go through that again."
